Taiwan in Review: Back in the US

Funny, quick story. A missionary came to my school periodically over the school year. We never met, but I learned of him upon reading this lively phrase on the whiteboard. Interestingly enough, he accidentally wrote it in permanent ink. Jesus lives, indeed.

To anyone who still reads this, I'm back in the US and moving to Boston on September 1. After finishing the Fulbright program in June, I had a few adventures before returning home.

First, my cousin came out and we traveled around Malaysia and Singapore. My second sojourn in Kuala Lumpur was his first. Here's two weeks worth of adventures:

Said "Hello" once again to the Petronas Towers. This time, I went up.

Hung out with the locals in Singapore

Drank my first Singapore Sling at the Raffles Hotel

Also in Singapore, saw what appears to be a boat on top of three buildings.

Explored East Malaysia, BorneoStarted what would be my most difficult hike to date

But gradually, we made our way up

Finally after two days, we made it 13,435 feet to the peak of Mount Kinabalu

...and watched an epic sunrise at 15 degrees Fahrenheit

After the sun rose on Kinabalu, we were able to see neighboring peaks

and the fabulous Malaysian coastline

I could probably continue on with this blog, conveying stories about my Fulbright experience, until I return to Asia again in two or three years. But for now, I'll settle for a few funny videos and pics from the year--mostly new:

Yuli! My favorite, and perhaps the most peaceful, place in Taiwan

I learned how to discuss dance parties in Chinese, check that off the bucket list

First and second graders hustling

My favorite place in Taipei (besides Luxy!), Elephant Mountain

Taiwan has a great art scene

Sometimes, poor English can go a little too far

Platform of the Three Immortals along the southeast coast

The wonderful spring insects of Taiwan!
(Note: Bug bites were worse than illustrated in photo)

The unforgettable clock atop Yilan Train Station, how I started every morning
